PRESS RELEASE – The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has approved a recommendation from the National Screening Advisory Committee (NSAC)

We here at the IPIA – Irish Primary Immunodeficiencies Association (IPIA) are thrilled to share the news that The Minister for Health in Ireland has approved the addition of a 10th condition to the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Program. This is a breakthrough, as it helps to ensure that the most vulnerable members of our society are identified and provided with the necessary preventative measures and treatments. This move to include Screening for 10 conditions will help to reduce the burden of illness and suffering in the Irish population and will give families the peace of mind that their newborns are being given the opportunity to lead healthy, productive lives. IPIA is confident that this important decision will improve the quality of care and reduce the long-term costs associated with the management of these conditions.

We are confident that our combined efforts will help create a brighter future for all our members. We want to thank all the Doctors and members of the government, as well as everyone involved in this project, for their help in achieving this goal. We are proud of the progress we have made and look forward to further success.
